Message From the Nurse..

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NURSE?
Welcome to A NEW HEALTHY SCHOOL YEAR AT RUMMEL CREEK!

As your School Nurses, we are here to help your family ensure your children are healthy and able to succeed in their academic work. We can assist you in the following manner:

Medications:
* Dispense prescription drugs (inhalers, pills, etc.) when you bring them to the clinic, with the signed doctor’s orders.
* Administer over-the-counter medications for children, if they are brought to the Health Center by the parent. A signed Spring Branch form must be delivered that gives the registered nurses permission to give the medication. You may bring medications such as throat lozenges, Tylenol/Advil, Benadryl, and stomach ache meds like Tums.

Immunizations:
* Review students doctor records to ensure state compliance for school attendance.

Fever:
* If a student has a fever – temperature greater than 100 degrees – or a very sore throat, he/she needs to stay home. If symptoms persist, a doctor’s visit is needed. Always write a note explaining your child’s illness and if you go to the doctor ask for a release (note) to say when your child may return to school.

Extra Clothing:
* We also want to suggest to you that younger children have a complete outfit (shirt, pants or skirt, socks and underwear) in their backpack at school.
* Children spill liquids, play in the mud or rain, and do a variety of activities that might soil their clothing. It is important for the children to be dry and clean, so that they do not miss classroom instruction.

Please do not hesitate to call or stop by the Health Center to discuss any student health issues or concerns. The school nurses are here to help your family.
